Educational Psychology Service in Schools
Ms. Lee, an educational psychologist, visits the school regularly to help teachers to identify and support students with special education needs early and to provide free educational psychological assessments for students. If parents feel that their children need assessment or counseling on learning, emotional, or behavioral issues, they can contact the school social worker or the school principal. The school will arrange an appointment with an educational psychologist as needed.
Kindergarten Social Work Service Pilot Project
Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service- “Pilot Project on Social Work Service in Pre-school Unit.”
Ms. Ngan, the social worker, is at the school two days a week. Depending on the student’s developmental needs, she will offer different kinds of counseling, such as individual game counseling, parent meetings, home visits, etc.
Regularly refer students in need to relevant organizations to receive appropriate services; organize parent-child workshops and parent stress reduction activities.
Pre-school Rehabilitation Services
Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service, “School-based Pre-school Rehabilitation Services-Early Start Program.”
Provide rehabilitation services based on a multi-disciplinary team, such as individual or group training for children with special needs, rehabilitation centers with facilities for rehabilitation, home training and home visits, talks, workshops, and seminars for parents, activities for parents and children, and counseling and consultation services.
Non-Chinese Speaking Students’ Education Services
We provide services for students of different ethnicities to help them adapt to local learning as soon as possible. Interpretation and/or translation services can be arranged for NCS children as needed, or parents and children can be accompanied by Chinese-speaking relatives and friends to facilitate communication.
Interpretation and translation services are available for the primary one admission seminar.
